Welcome to the Grants Help page!!! This page has been designed to assist faculty, staff, compassand administrators with grant writing. Here you will find links to statistics on our service area, employment projections, links to grant opportunities, and previous grant submissions.

IMPORTANT!!!!! Be sure to notify your supervisor before submitting any grants on the behalf of the college. Foundation appeals MUST be routed through Maryjane Elkins and all other grant applications MUST be routed through Dr. Sheffield, for approval.

Grants Alert - A clearinghouse for grants and foundations contains searchable databases.

VA Dept. of Criminal Justice Services - State level grants for criminal justice related activities.

VA Dept. of Environmental Quality - Grants for educating people about the environment.

VA Foundation for the Humanities - funding to develop public humanities programs for audiences in Virginia.

VCCS Grants - Professional development and mini-workshop grant opportunities.

CCSSE - Community College Survey of Student Engagement - reports and data on persistence and success.

IPEDS - Statistical data and information on postsecondary institutions.

IPEDS SVCC 2008 Report- Demographical information about our student body.

Kids Count - Data on individuals aged 0-17 with the ability to produce graphs, charts, and lists.

U.S. Census Bureau Data Access Tools - A collection of data tools useful in viewing U.S. Census Data.

University of VA's Scholars Lab - A collection of a wide variety of datasets on our society.

VCCS Institutional Research Page - A collection of system wide data for the VCCS (graduation, retention, enrollment data).

Virginia Fast Facts Map - Virginia map selection tool with basic census information at the county level.

VEC Labor Market Link - A convenient source of high quality economic, demographic, and occupational information.

Previous Grant Submissions

CEED GRANT - VCCS grant for the QEP.
Communities for Opportunities_Grant_2008-2009 - a grant with high school drop out and population statistics for the counties of Mecklenburg, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Brunswick.
Dislocated Workers Grant - a large federal grant with information on poverty and unemployment in our service area, includes a list of industry closings.
Greensville_Memorial_Foundation - a foundation appeal for our nursing programs.
Morgan_Foundation - a foundation appeal for the programs at Ft. Pickett.
Race to GED Grant - Contains a good narrative concerning HS and GED information in our service area.
Reynolds_Foundation - a foundation appeal for expansion of Ft. Pickett.
Title III grant - federal grant with statistics on SVCC including graduation rates, retention, student enrollment, student demographics, and a service are map.
